The Mood | Food Connection

The food-mood link has been researched for decades. Everything we do, from thinking to moving, is influenced by nerve cells in the brain, called neurons. There are 100 billion neurons in the brain that require nutrients to function.
The neurotransmitters that are the most sensitive to diet are serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. These chemicals do more than just communicate; they can have a powerful effect on mood. What you eat can lift your mood or depress it, depending on your food choices. Even borderline nutritional deficiencies can lead to a low mood. What you do not eat can have as great impact as what you do eat.
